Erica Cue (aka The Library Queen) is a Middle School Librarian currently in Rialto, CA. and has dedicated many years working at all levels: elementary, middle and high school. With over 15 years of experience
in public education, Erica’s favorite place to be is in the school library. She
has been named Para educator of the year for her school district as well as the
County of San Bernardino. She serves on the California School Library
Association State Board as the Paraprofessional Representative. In the 2014-2015
school year Oak Park Elementary School was recognized as a California Distinguished
School. Their application showcased their library program as their signature
practice.
Whatever the cost of the libraries, the price is cheap
compared to that of an ignorant nation.” These words of Walter Cronkite sum up
what Erica believes and compels her to give her all in creating a library
culture at her school. If it something that benefits the students, parents or
staff, she partners with teachers and the principal to support student
achievement and makes it a priority to get students participating in the
Literacy Hub.
Tales of a Library Queen is a blog I created to offer
innovative and creative ideas to those that are new and seasoned in their
library profession. The school library plays a vital role in the success of its
students and it is the one place on each school campus that “all” students have
access too. Hopefully this blog will take the pressure off of your busy schedule
and make lesson planning for your library a little easier.
